Our Abbeyfield team consists of house coordinators, Abbeyfield board members, sponsors, volunteers, night support personnel. Many community members contribute their skills and time to achieve the spirit and reality of the Abbeyfield philosophy and life style for seniors.
A house coordinator is on site from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily to prepare and serve two home cooked meals and foster a caring and supportive environment for the residents. Residents independently prepare breakfast at their preferred time selecting food items set out for the morning meal. A house coordinator may be off site for short periods of time to purchase groceries and other supplies.
Night support personnel reside on site and respond to emergency situations from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Relief night support is arranged for at least two nights each week.
A volunteer board of directors oversees the operation of an Abbeyfield House. Committees are composed of volunteers who establish and maintain a safe environment. They develop policy and operate the house in accordance to the needs of their community and the Guiding Principles of Abbeyfield as set out by Abbeyfield International. It is their responsibility to identify budgetary requirements.
